Surf the Internet, read any newspaper and it’ll hit you…Robin Williams has died. The 63 year old comedian was found dead in his home on August 11, 2014 in Tiburon, CA. Police consequently reported that he died from asphyxiation where he committed suicide by hanging. The comedian’s body was discovered by personal assistant on Monday morning after his wife, Susan Schneider, had left the home to run some errands.

 

 At the Time of Death

 

It was revealed that Robin Williams had been struggling from severe depression when he was greeted by death. Insiders close to Williams revealed to celebrity news source, TMZ that the comedian re-visited rehab in July to check on his addictions, although he denied relapsing and falling again to drug addiction. In fact, he ‘centered’ himself by internalizing his pain. Even after checking into rehab, it seemed to be too late for the actor. He had already gone far down the road. Between revisiting rehab and his unfortunate death, Robin was actually trying to find his spirituality by meditating. While meditation has therapeutic advantages and provides a great way to reflect and mull, it was just not enough to save the actor’s life.

Williams, who’s known for his unique and natural sense of humor, has been putting laughter and a Burger King smile on the faces of his audience for years. He’s been featured in many films where he captivated the hearts of his viewers and positioned himself stably within the comedic industry. Williams loved what he did and found joy in being the comedian he was. However, while the actor made himself an outlet for bringing people laughter, he too needed someone to put a smile on his face since he had his own issues to deal with, even when it appeared otherwise.

 

The actor had personal issues flowing through his veins which acted as a source of discomfort and emotional pain. In fact, his struggle with cocaine and drug abuse was constantly at the forefront. He never brushed his battle with addiction under the rug. In fact, Robin Williams was caught on stage joking about his obsession with cocaine.

 

It was after Williams rose to fame on the 1970’s sitcom, Mork & Mindy, that he developed his drug and alcohol, even indulging in a lifestyle of revelry. It seemed as if for a time, stardom and perhaps fame had a profound effect on Williams’ life. In his encounter with drug abuse, he was like a mere teenager, inexperienced without much guidance in life. While the ‘live fast, die-young’ 1970’s actor spent around 4 decades making people laugh, he spent the remainder consumed by his problems. The comedian’s life had been a rollercoaster of sobriety and relapse. According to the comedian, “Cocaine for me was a place to hide. Most people get hyper on coke. It slowed me down,” he told People in 1988. While Williams found solace in his drug abuse, it would later turn out to his detriment as he found it to be a struggle and wanted to quit, but found it difficult to do so.

 

Robin not only battled with addictions, he also had health restraints. After being admitted in a rehabilitation facility for his alcohol obsession, Robin found out that he had a serious heart condition. During his tour, Weapons of Self Destruction, Robin was confined to the hospital in 2009 where he underwent care and surgery to replace his aortic valve. Being human, Robin had the impression or apprehension that he’d not survive the surgery. This shocked him and he changed his life for the better (so it would seem).

 

 

His legacy will live on.

Life is very precious. In fact, no one genuinely wants to die. In Williams’ case, he thought his situation or struggles were just too much to bear and as such, death was the only solace and comfort he could find. Since the comic’s death, several others, including Perez Hilton, have demonstrated concern for depression. Since depression has always been something kept in the dark, many are now speaking openly about Williams’ recent passing from severe depression. It’s really sad that it took something so devastating to get the discussion about depression out into the open. It’s important that people realize that they’re not alone in their struggle with depression. In fact, a side effect of depression is withdrawal or isolation. This is quite a devastating illness and may even drive one to think they’re alone and no one cares. Whether this was the case with Robin Williams or not, depression can and has caused many people to end their journey in life.

All the Low Down Dirty Deets on Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Return

Without apologies, it’s safe to say that Sleepy Hollow’sSeason 1 ended with a bang. The show really knows how to entertain. The scenes were epic and the characters, including Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Abbie (Nicole Beharie) were tremendous. If for some reason you missed the season finale of Season 1 of the series, here’s a recap to get your appetite whet and to prepare you for all the low down dirty deets of the series return.

Guys, normally I’m the chatterbox and I’ll just let the cats out of the bag. However, with this recap, I’m literally at a standstill. I’m clueless as to where to start. Yup, that’s right…the season finale was that devastating! Orlando Jones did warn us about the finale but as usual, I thought he was like the others who just like to talk. I just didn’t want to be disappointed when he mentioned that we should anticipate something ‘devastating’ so I ended up watching the finale unprepared. I most definitely underestimated what havoc the season finale would reap, especially the tornado it stirred within my heart and onscreen.

 

I’ve seen countless finales where the good guys did all the smiling. At the end, they faced up to the villains and came out on top. However, within Sleepy Hollow’s finale, things turned out contrary to what most viewers anticipated. I was actually looking forward to seeing the headless horseman re-grow his head only to have it re-decapitated (man that would have been sweet! That would have made my day).  Sad to say, that was not what happened.

Those bad guys surely rose to the challenge and gave me a beating. My bet was on the good guys and they lost pathetically, without even a fight (they sure got served!). Abbie actually found herself trapped in ‘only God knows where’, with a deranged thin-skinned, animal-looking, wanna-be-worshipped Moloch. As for the ‘from the 60s’ Ichabod Crane, he allowed himself to be swindled (and then buried) by an old man who can’t even walk without a limp (shame on you Ichabod! I expected better). As things turned out, this swindler is no other than the self-named sin eater and second horseman, and not to mention Ichabod’s long lost son who is back with a vengeance to teach his father a lesson. Irving, a member of the Ichabod gang and a man working behind the scenes, is also detained for two murders he didn’t commit. As for Ichabod’s wife, Katrina Crane, she rode off with her long lost admirer, the headless riding dude (I mean the headless horseman) into the silhouette of the night to bring forth headless minions (just kidding guys, but the sin eater did hand her over to the headless horseman).

 

There are actually no happy endings for the good guys! Each member of the Ichabod gang has their own problems, while the bad guys ride off into the greenery to eat cupcakes and ice cream. Now that I’ve bored you with the details (hopefully I didn’t) let’s take a look at what we can expect when Season 2 of the Sleepy Hollow returns.

In the previous season, we were always hit with daddy issues. However, the directors are jazzing up things a bit, and are moving towards the mom this time around. The Mentalist alum Aunjanue Ellis has actually been recruited to play Lori Mills, the late mother of Abbie and Jenny. It was believed that the woman, Abbie’s mom, had a mental condition and so committed suicide while on a mental ward around 16 years ago. With Ellis’ introduction, Abbie and her sister will find out what really happened to their mom. The dead mother lives.

What does Sleepy Hollow’s new slogan says to you? If ‘evil takes hold’, it would have meant that evil was already prevalent or lurking behind the scenes, waiting to pounce. We’ve definitely seen that this has been the case with the recent season. Moloch and his clang have patiently been waiting for the opportune time to claim Sleepy Hollow. Now that the fighters are all tied up (literally), who will be man enough to step forward and fight against the inevitable – lift the veils and untie the knots evil has left abound?

 

 

A New Headless in Town

The horseman will not be the only demon to gallop about. In fact, the headless horseman, Katrina’s capturer, will have some competition. This means that Abbie and Ichabod will have two additional hands to help in the fight against Moloch and his entourage. What’s so interesting about this development is quite thrilling since the new associate to Abbie and Ichabod was made from the head of the headless horseman (don’t ask). Aching to get back his head, I’m sure the headless horseman is aching to cut something off. Watch out Headless, a new goose is in town and you’re about to get cooked. As we await the return of Sleepy Hollow on Sept. 22, at 9 p.m. on Fox, lets prepare ourselves to enter the battlefield because war has officially been declared.
