Verizon Communications Inc. VoLTE Service is Finally Here

In an article dated May 20, 2014 on the official website of Verizon Communications Inc., Verizon stated their plans to roll out a new service. This anticipated service will permit customers boasting compatible devices and operating on Verizon’s network to make HD voice and video calls via the network. Dubbed as ‘VoLTE’ service, which is the abbreviated form of Voice over LTE, the service was slated to roll out in subsequent months.

What is VoLTE?

Voice over LTE is a new wireless technology that will transform the way smartphones are used to make calls. In subsequent weeks, consumers with a subscription to Verizon Communications will experience what Advanced Calling 1.0 entails. VoLTE includes integrating the wireless experience with the use of high def. voice and video calling on smartphones compatible with Verizon’s 4G LTE network. In order to enable voice and video call, both users – sender and receiver – have to be subscribers of Verizon and user of compatible devices.

The scheduled roll out of VoLTE might eradicate the use of the company’s aging CDMA service. As promised approximately two years ago, but was later postponed, the company will move toward a better service which will revolutionize the way customers make voice and video calls over the 4G LTE network.

How the Roll Out is Made Possible

Not all of Verizon’s 4G smartphones will be able to boast this service, but VoLTE over some devices will be feasible. Verizon has always been an avid supporter of standards-based services with a nationwide implementation that is able to operate on multiple handsets. It’s anticipated that only a few enabled VoLTE devices will be available with the launching of the Voice and Video Calling service. However, with time, more customers will be fed the service through updated VoLTE-enabled software.

Benefits of Advanced Calling 1.0 Technology

With a first generation service suite, customers of Verizon Communications Inc. will benefit from the features presented with the advanced calling technology. With the voice and video enabled components of Advanced Calling 1.0, subscribers will relish:

  • High Definition audio

Phone users often struggle with hearing what’s on the other end. This usually results from several conditions, whether interruptions with the phone service etc. While this is the case, customers will now be able to benefit from high definition audio. This means that they’ll no longer struggle to hear what’s happening on the other end. With high definition audio, sounds are more natural and clear. This makes for better voice recognition, especially if the individual on the other end has a high definition voice enabled smartphone. High definition voice creates a better experience and seemingly makes the other person sound an inch away.

  • Coverage

Coverage has always been one of Verizon’s strong points. With VoLTE powered by 4G LTE network, customers will have HD audio accessible across the country, provided that it’s within Verizon’s market.

  • An all-inclusive bill

Bills are regular ‘anxieties’ for customers. However, this need not be the case with HD voice service that is slated to roll out. Since voice call will be included on the customer’s existing bill, they won’t need to worry about additionally billed voice calls. This means that they’ll be able to enjoy an additional service without paying an additional penny. Less for more is always a better option with Verizon.

  • Seamless video calling experience

Not only will customers enjoy better voice quality, but they’re able to initiate a video call seamlessly. Instead of going through a technical situation with many problems, customers are able to make a video call simply, just as how a traditional voice call is made. Video calling with the anticipated VoLTE service will be so simple that users will even be able to switch from a video call to a voice call with the push of a button and vice versa.

  • One-way video call

Another exceptional feature of video calling over the VoLTE network is that it allows customers to play with one-way video calling. If the receiving or transmitting user at the end of a video call is not yet ready to reveal themselves or is not in a good position to be seen on video, the one-way video functionality is ideal. The one-way video calling feature allows a customer to see the other person during a video call, but allows them to conceal their face.

  • Built-in video experience

Many video calling tools, such as Skype, demands that the user downloads the software or app on their smartphone prior to using. This is not the case with video calling on the 4G LTE platform. Video calling is different and is a part of the user’s smartphone. No software download or app is required to use it. Users are also not required to create a username to use video calling via VoLTE. The user’s mobile number is used as the unique identifier of the smartphone holder. Since the built-in video feature requires HD voice, users will be able to hear clearly while engaged.

With the roll out of VoLTE from Verizon, subscribers will be able to enjoy a better experience with HD voice and video calling over a reliable and trusted network.
